Flesh and Blood card types and anatomy

Every card in the pool is one of 17 types, carries a few symbols on its frame, and most carry a pitch colour. The 5,304 cards of the dataset, read that way.

The card types

The dataset files every card under one type, by membership against LSS's type words (a card typed Attack and Action is an attack action). The code is what the card database filters on.

The equipment and weapon slots

A hero wears one piece of equipment per body slot and holds weapons in the two hand slots; a two-handed weapon takes both. The count is cards that name the slot.

The symbols on the card

Card text and the frame use a handful of symbols; here they are as our card pages draw them.

The pitch colours

The strip at the top left of a card is its pitch value: red pitches for 1, yellow for 2, blue for 3. Cards without a strip, heroes, equipment, weapons and tokens, cannot be pitched.

  • Red, pitch 1 · 1,534 cards
  • Yellow, pitch 2 · 1,317 cards
  • Blue, pitch 3 · 1,461 cards
  • No pitch · 992 cards

Where the rules live

These are plain-words readings of the card frame, not the rules. The Comprehensive Rules and its glossary, the tournament rules and every policy are on LSS's Rules and Policy Centre; the release notes behind our keywords page explain each new mechanic.

Counts are cards in the dataset at its last refresh, one per card whatever its printings. Card names and images © Legend Story Studios.
