Runic Reaving (Blue)

Usurp is a static ability keyword.

Usurp adds an additional cost to cards. You must destroy a card named Runechant, or a card that counts as a Runechant if able. If you destroy a Runechant in this way, the card gets +2. Any Runechant that is public and in the arena can be destroyed as part of paying this cost, regardless of controller.

A Runechant token that is destroyed to pay a usurp cost will not trigger when the card is played: it no longer exists by the time its “when you play an attack action card” trigger would occur.

A Runechant that is destroyed to pay a usurp cost is considered to have been usurped when that card is played and put on the stack. This can trigger effects that look for when a card “usurps this”.

If there are no Runechants, you can still play the card with the usurp additional cost but you won’t get any additional effects as the usurp cost was not paid.
