Rulings

From the Mastery Pack Warrior release notes
  • Display of Artistry’s first ability is a targeted ability, which requires a weapon attack in order to be played.
  • Display of Artistry’s first ability refers to whether a weapon has been sharpened as part of its conditional effect. A weapon is considered sharpened if a sharpen effect has been applied to it. A weapon is still considered sharpened even if the +1power counters no longer exist on it.
  • Display of Artistry’s conditional effect refers to any card with the Reaction type (i.e. Defense Reaction or Attack Reaction). The effect applies to all cards that were already defending the targeted attack (e.g. attack reactions added as defending in the defense step) as well as cards that have not yet resolved and become defending (e.g. defense reactions after they resolve on the stack) will be affected.
  • Display of Artistry’s conditional effect does not apply to cards that become defending due to the resolution of a reaction, but do not have the Reaction type. For example, Quickdodge Flexor becomes defending following the resolution of a Defense Reaction ability, but is not itself a card with a Reaction type.
  • This continuous effect will only apply to the targeted weapon attack and reaction cards defending the targeted attack will get the -1defense. Subsequent attacks made by the same weapon on the combat chain will not have this continuous effect applied to them as they are different weapon attacks.
