Destroying Wind Slicer when this combat chain closes is part of the activation cost of its activated attack ability. For example, if you were to attack a permanent with spectra with Wind Slicer’s activated attack ability, it would still be destroyed when the combat chain closes, even though the attack did not resolve.

When Wind Slicer hits a hero, that hero loses all abilities on their hero card during their next action phase, but not for the remainder of your turn or any subsequent turns between. “Hero card abilities” refers to the base abilities on the hit hero’s card representation, and not any gained abilities. A hero card that has lost all of its abilities effectively has a blank text box.
