Verdance

Verdance

If there are 4 or more Earth cards in your banished zone, Verdance gets "Whenever you gain life during your turn, you may deal 1 arcane damage to any opposing target."

Essence of Earth

Rulings

From the Rosetta + 1st Strike release notes
  • The condition for Verdance’s ability differs between its adult and young hero versions. The adult version of the hero requires 8 or more Earth cards to be in Verdance’s banished zone, while the young version requires only 4 or more Earth cards to be in Verdance’s banished zone.
  • This has a static ability which constantly checks the number of Earth cards in your banished zone. If you have 3 Earth cards in your banished zone, and then you banish an Earth card, this gets the ability. If you then remove an Earth card from your banished zone, it loses the ability.
  • Earth cards that are face-down in your banished zone do not count towards Earth cards in your banished zone.
  • If the life gain event gets replaced by a replacement effect that does not gain life (e.g. Poison the Well, or the life gain is reduced to 0), Verdance’s ability does not trigger.

Keyword notes

Essence - Essence is a new keyword that exists on Elemental hero cards showing what Elements that hero specializes in and what Element cards can be included in the deck.
  • An Elemental Runeblade with essence of Earth and essence of Lightning can play with Generic cards, Elemental cards, Runeblade cards, Earth cards, Lightning cards and Elemental Runeblade cards. (Note: You cannot play with any card with the supertype Ice, as you do not have the supertype Ice or essence of Ice on your hero)
  • Your hero must have the essence of Earth for you to play Earth cards but any Elemental hero can play Elemental cards with Earth Fusion. (You wouldn’t have any Earth cards to fuse it though)
