Rulings

From the Usurp the Shadow Throne release notes
  • Malice’s activated ability requires that you pay resource, tap Malice, and declare a target card with the Zombie subtype in your graveyard. When this ability resolves, until the end of turn, you may play it from your graveyard.
  • The zombie targeted by Malice’s activated ability must be face-up and in your graveyard in order to be played. If it no longer meets both of these conditions, then it can no longer be played by Malice’s activated ability.
  • Malice’s triggered ability will trigger every time a permanent with the Zombie subtype that you control dies. Whenever a zombie ally is reduced to 0 life, it will first go to its owner’s graveyard at which point it will have died, putting Malice’s trigger on the stack. When this trigger resolves, you will banish it face-down to its owner’s banished zone, and create a Corrupted Corpse in your banished zone.
  • A zombie must be a permanent and have a life property in order to die.
  • If you control a zombie that you don’t own and it dies, Malice will trigger and you will banish the zombie from its owner’s graveyard to its owner’s banished zone.
  • If the zombie that triggered Malice cannot be banished face-down for any reason, you will still create a Corrupted Corpse in your banished zone.
  • Corrupted Corpses created during your end phase, for example when a zombie you control dies to decay, the created Corrupted Corpse will not add its Blood Debt trigger to the stack.
