From the Omens of the Third Age release notes
- Flicker Reality’s first ability triggers when it leaves the arena (e.g. when it is destroyed, when it is banished, etc.). This is an optional effect: you may choose and banish another Lightning aura permanent you control with no holo counters in the arena when the triggered effect resolves. The banished aura will immediately return to the arena with a holo counter.
- When resolving Flicker Reality’s triggered effect, the chosen Lightning aura will move to its owner’s banished zone, and will immediately return to the arena under the control of its owner.
- When resolving Flicker Reality’s triggered effect, there is no priority between any of the effects generated (e.g. banishing an aura, returning an aura with a holo counter).
- Destroying Flicker Reality as part of using and applying its Ward prevention effect can cause it to trigger its or other objects’ triggered abilities. You will add these triggered effects to the stack the next time effects can be added to the stack (typically before players receive priority). Triggered effects added in this way will not resolve in time to be applied to the same damage event.
- Tokens cease to exist when they leave the arena. If you choose to banish a Lightning aura with the token subtype, that token will cease to exist instead of being moved to the banished zone and will not be returned to the arena.
- The Lightning aura you banish must be an object in the arena with both the Lightning supertype and the Aura subtype. You also cannot banish a defending Lightning aura you control on the combat chain nor Lightning auras on the stack waiting to resolve as they are not Lightning aura permanents in the arena.
Keyword notes
Ward X - If your hero would be dealt damage, prevent X of that damage and destroy this.
- Ward is a static ability that generates a fixed-prevention effect.
- The prevention effect is not optional. It applies whenever damage would be dealt to your hero.
- If another prevention effect reduces a damage event to 0, the replacement condition is no longer met (damage would not be dealt), so Ward would not apply.
- The prevention amount applies to a single damage event. The leftover prevention amount does not apply to any future damage that would be dealt to your hero.
- If the damage prevention can not be applied due to an effect, the object with Ward on it is still destroyed as part of the replacement effect application.
